Naperville Invite
September 25, 2009

This was an interesting evening of cross country, to say the least.  From the rain and the muddy trails, to the confusion on the course, the Mustangs endured to hold their own against some of the area's top teams.  Varsity finished in 5th out of nine teams, with just nine points separating 3rd-5th places.  Varsity was led by Jacquelyn Thate's 6th place finish, an effort in which she passed more than ten runners in the second half of the race.  Grace Magliola earned the distinction of being the only girl in the entire race of 63 runners who ran the correct course, which cost her quite a bit of time, and she was awarded 10th place to make up for the time she lost by running further than all of her competitors.  Rounding out the Varsity scoring was Casey Harms (20th), Cara Drennan (24th), and Rebecca Stearns (32nd).  The JV team finished in 3rd place out of 7 teams, and had to run in the sloppiest conditions of the night, with Kathleen Riordan leading the way with her 9th place finish.  Individual awards were also earned by JV runners Abby Lechner (10th), Jessica Leone (14th), and Jessica Sonnenberger (17th).  Kate Even completed the JV score with her 22nd place finish.  The Frosh/Soph team finished 4th out of 8 teams, led by Amy Rotunno, who recorded the best individual finish of the day (3rd).  Teammates Maddie Cahill (12th), Monica Resh (22nd), Annie Heneghan (28th), and Kelsey Fischer (37th) rounded out the Frosh/Soph scoring.
