Mustang Band Booster Scholarship Options

Don Wilson Scholarship Fund – There
are three choices that students can make as they apply for a maximum $200
scholarship from the Mustang Band Booster Don Wilson Scholarship Fund during
each school year: A) Any student
attending a summer band camp may request a maximum $200 scholarship for a summer
band/music camp. B) Students may
apply to request a maximum $200 marching band scholarship to defray the cost of
the marching band fee. Consideration
will first be given to families with multiple students participating in the
marching band activity. C) Any student may choose to apply for a maximum $200
scholarship at one of two separate times during any given school year for use in
supplementing the cost of private lessons.
Application Requirements
Application Availability
September 1 – October 1 Application window for 1st
semester private lesson scholarships
January 15 – February 15 Application window for 2nd semester private lesson scholarships
March 15 – April 15 Application window for marching band fee scholarships
April 15 – May 15 Application window for summer camp scholarships
May 15th Deadline for senior band members to request band account funds
Additional Music Awards for Band Students
Awarded to deserving students as selected by music faculty members
(no application required)

Michael David Samel Spirit of Music
Fund Award – Two $250 awards are given each spring to two members of
the band program at any level who establish themselves as leaders within the
program and attend a summer band camp. In
addition, three $100 awards are given at the end of each marching band season
for “Most like Mike,” “Outstanding Leader” and “Most Spirited Marching
Band Member.”

Music Department Year End Awards
– Several local organizations provide
scholarship awards at the end of year school year.
These include monies from the Downers Grove Music Club, Downers Grove
Junior Women’s Club, and Friends of Fine Arts.

Friends of Fine Arts Summer Study
– Students may apply for summer study grants of up to $250 each for
camps and summer private lessons. Students
may also choose to apply for help in purchasing a new instrument, or equipment
that would help enhance their music education.

Brian and Sheila Mosey Performing
Arts Endowment – Students
that participate in group travel within the Fine Arts program are eligible to
apply for scholarships through this endowment through application to the Fine
Arts Department.
